In order to align public health work to consistent standards across various areas and organizations of public health, seven core competency statements overviewing 36 core competencies were developed in Canada. The competencies also aid organizations in fulfilling specific public health functions and funding particular services and programs.
The competencies encompass:
- public health sciences
- assessment and analysis
- policy and program planning
- implementation and evaluation
- partnerships, collaboration, and advocacy
- diversity and inclusiveness
